Books are not a detail on the profile. They are how you meet.

Why it exists

Most apps ask you to summarise yourself in six photographs and a joke. Readers already have a better answer: the books they finished, the ones they abandoned, the one they still argue about years later. That record says more about how someone thinks, what moves them and how they handle disagreement than any prompt ever will.

My Plot Twist starts from that record. You build a reading profile, describe how you read rather than only what you read, and meet people whose shelves make a conversation likely.

Dating and friendship, equally

You choose your intention: dating, friendship, or either. Friendship is a first-class outcome here, not a consolation setting. Members aged 16 and 17 can use My Plot Twist for friendship only, and are never shown to adults looking for romance.

How books are used

• Shared worlds — the genres, authors and themes you both return to.
• Reading personality — pace, re-reading, spoilers, endings, how you like to discuss a book.
• Productive difference — the disagreement that makes a first conversation worth having.
• Conversation starters drawn only from what the two of you actually have in common or in conflict.

You never see a compatibility score. You see reasons, written in plain language, that you can accept or dismiss.

Privacy by default

Your matching answers, boundaries, messages and the people who liked you are private. Nothing about your dating activity is published or indexed by search engines. Signed-in areas of the app are marked non-indexable, and public pages such as this one contain no member data beyond what a member has deliberately chosen to share.

What makes it different

This is not a dating app with a books field bolted on. Books are the mechanism: they decide who you see, why you see them, and what you talk about first. You do not need a Goodreads account, and you do not need to be a “serious reader” — three meaningful books and an honest answer about how you read is enough to begin.
