My Plot Twist introduces readers to each other using what they read, how they read and where their opinions part ways. Dating, friendship, or either — you choose.
The problem with meeting people online
Interest-based introductions usually stop at the label. Two people both tick “reading” and learn nothing: one reads three thrillers a week on the train, the other spends a month with one novel and a pencil. The label matched; the people did not.
What we use instead
- The specific books on your shelves, including the ones you disliked.
- Themes and genres you keep returning to, rather than a single favourite.
- How you read: pace, spoilers, re-reading, endings, whether you want to analyse or just enjoy.
- What you want from a conversation — a debate, a recommendation, a slow correspondence.
One reader at a time
Discovery shows you a single person, with the reasons the two of you could work and a question you could actually ask. You can open the full reader profile, pass, or express interest. Nobody is contacted unless interest is mutual, and passing is remembered so the same profile does not return.
You do not need Goodreads
Search Open Library, add books by hand, or upload an existing list — a Goodreads-style CSV export works, but no account is required. Audiobooks count. Three books are enough to begin.
Where conversations start
